CETC - constructing the future!

Blog update

It may not be our biggest project, but in many ways it’s one of our most exciting!

A number of the Fareham College groundwork apprentices are actively involved in the construction of the new CETC building. The Blogging Team met Alex on their most recent visit who was digging a new manhole. Alex commented, “It certainly feels special to be building the classrooms for my future fellow construction students. It’s a great site to work on, very well run and organised and I know exactly what is expected of me”.

On the site itself the car park preparation is well underway. The soil surface has been covered with Terram sheeting, then mesh, followed by a layer of type 3 stone. It will be finished off with soak away block paving edged with tarmac.

The huge sheets of insulation for the warm roof and the composite cladding have arrived onsite and look very impressive. Installation should be at an advanced stage by the time the Blogging Team visit later in May. On the ground floor the Trespa SFS is now underway giving the building a more enclosed feel.
