Promega wins Awards!

Amiri are immensely proud that the new Promega Headquarters Building at Southampton Science Park has won two awards this year and is shortlisted for a third.

The building has won a Structural Timber Award and is shortlisted for a RIBA South East Design Award. In the meantime it has added the “Best In Show” Peoples Vote award from The RIBA Journal who were quick to say '...There were plenty of commercial buildings to choose from in the regional shortlists. Perhaps aptly for a year when most of the population spent less time in the office, usual offices didn’t perform so well in the voting. There were only two that made it as top regional buildings – both for owner occupiers. In the South that was Promega UK Headquarters designed by ArchitecturePLB with Perkins+Will, the stone and zinc of its two wings of lab and offices making a marker of quality for the biotech company in its Hampshire science park. In the North East, Tombola House by Ryder won with its three roof pitches and grand atrium taking on Sunderland’s riverscape....'.

The construction consisted of a 16,000sqft, single and two storey bespoke office building providing 'something special that is both beautiful and functional from the inside out'. Features include a double height atrium space to split the building into two wings, teach and laboratory areas, temperature sensitive storage facilities, main office accommodation and meeting areas, welfare space, green roof, gym area with lockers & showers, and a terrace with a balcony. Extensive landscaping to create attractive green spaces was also a hugely important aspect of this build.

The development sits almost directly opposite the Amiri built Benham 5, this is the fourth project Amiri have delivered on the USSP campus.
