COVID-19 Company statement
24th March 2020
No doubt you will be aware of the impact of the Coronavirus as it unfolds day by day. Amiri continues to closely monitor the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) situation and follow the advice issued by the UK Government. The health and wellbeing of our staff, our clients, our supply chain and others that we deal with through business is our priority. With that in mind and the advice given by the Prime Minister on the evening of the 23rd March to stay at home unless absolutely necessary and to avoid gatherings of more than two people we have taken the decision that the sites will now be temporarily closed and office based staff will be working from home where appropriate. Whilst this appears to conflict with other government members advice to keep construction sites open we have, over the last week, carried out reviews of all of the sites to see if they can operate whilst maintaining the government’s own guidelines regarding social distancing and numbers of people. This simply isn’t possible and in order to comply with the government guidelines as well as protecting the health, safety and welfare of all those involved with Amiri we will be closing sites.
This is an unprecedented action by the government and the most significant business interruption that we are likely to see, as it will be for those with whom we deal with through our business. We have plans in place to ensure that the long-term interests of the business and the staff are protected, as well as the interests of our clients and supply chain and will obviously be carefully monitoring the government’s response to the crisis over the next three weeks.
Throughout this period sites will be monitored to ensure that they remain safe and secure and wherever possible staff will be working from home on everything that they can.
Further updates will be issued as the situation develops.
