Brick Laying Ceremony at Bourne Community Hub
A Ground Breaking Ceremony took place on Thursday 4 November to celebrate the construction of the Bourne Community Hub in Poole. This follows the Poole Communities Trust working with local residents and raising over £2m from a variety of funders. The new Community Hub at Bourne, being built by Amiri Construction, includes a 50 place pre-school, facilities for young people and a wide range of activities and services for local people of all ages.
Over 50 people celebrated this important milestone and expressed thanks to all of the local residents, funding organisation’s and construction specialists involved.
Kerry Manning, Chair of Bourne Big Local and Sir Christopher Lees, Talbot Village Trust laid the first bricks on the site of the 50-place pre-school. Earlier in the day the crane had lifted into place the impressive steel frame for the main sports hall.

The Bourne Hub will bring communities together and address the issues encountered by people of all ages. The Poole Communities Trust has done an outstanding job with fundraising such a staggering amount and for us, this is not just the building of a community centre, it is delivering hope to the lives of many.”
Kerry Manning – Chair of Bourne Big Local said:
‘It is wonderful to see the progress being made on site and to help lay the first bricks. We cannot wait to see the building opening next summer. Whilst construction is taking place, we are working with Poole Communities Trust and Little People Pre-school to ensure we have a full programme of services and activities when we open next year.‘

‘It was a great opportunity to get everyone involved in this project together and celebrate the work that is going on, on site. We are delighted to back in the area working with local supply chain partners on a project that benefits the community having delivered the Quay School just up the road a few years ago.”
