Project Overview

Amiri completed Templeman Place, delivering 27 energy-efficient, affordable homes to support local housing needs.

Amiri was appointed to complete the construction of Templeman Place, a residential development in Bournemouth delivering 27 new council-owned homes for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. The scheme comprised a four-storey apartment building providing 16 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom flats, together with bin and cycle storage, parking, electric vehicle charging points and a relocated substation.

The homes were designed in line with Passivhaus principles, creating highly energy-efficient, comfortable living environments with modern layouts suitable for a wide range of residents. External amenity spaces, including balconies, patios and a communal garden, further enhanced the quality of living for residents.

The project had initially commenced under a previous contractor who entered administration partway through construction, leaving enabling works and foundations already completed. Following a competitive re-tender process, Amiri was appointed to take over the scheme. A key early priority was to review and validate the existing works, ensuring quality, safety and compliance before progressing construction. Working closely with the client and wider project team, Amiri successfully integrated the existing structure into the new programme and managed associated risks to maintain delivery momentum.

Project Outcomes

Templeman Place delivered 27 high-quality, energy-efficient homes, contributing to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s wider programme to provide new affordable housing across the region. All homes were let at social rent, offering residents high-quality accommodation at significantly lower cost than the private rental market.

The development has provided flexible, accessible homes that support a range of living needs, while also enabling existing tenants to downsize, freeing up larger family homes for others in need. The inclusion of sustainable features and Passivhaus principles ensures long-term energy efficiency, improved comfort and reduced running costs for residents.

The successful completion of the project marked the transformation of a previously stalled site into a valuable community asset. It also represented a key milestone for the council, being one of the first schemes delivered following BCP Homes achieving a C1 rating from the Regulator of Social Housing.
