Project Overview
Amiri delivered a new two-storey Pavilion and Bridgehead building at Swanwick Marina for Premier Marinas.
This was the fifth project completed in partnership with the client and the second at this prestigious marina.
The Pavilion forms the striking new centrepiece of the marina, providing up to 14 high-quality business units overlooking the pontoons. Designed with flexibility in mind, the building accommodates sales offices for several leading luxury yacht brands, creating a vibrant commercial hub at the heart of the site.
The adjacent bridgehead structure provides secure access to the marina berths, including dedicated trolley and refuse storage areas, along with improved dry security gate entry. Together, the new facilities enhance the visitor and berth holder experience, reinforcing Swanwick Marina’s position as a premier destination for the boating community.
Key Challenges & Solutions
Design Change Management: Midway through construction, the client introduced a revised design vision. Amiri responded with agility, re-scoping and re-costing the project to meet the new requirements while maintaining programme and quality.
Operational Marina Environment: Works were undertaken within a live marina, requiring careful coordination to ensure uninterrupted access for berth holders and marina users, supported by clear communication and phased scheduling.
Tidal and Environmental Considerations: Proximity to the waterfront demanded robust planning for logistics, safety and environmental protection, with tailored construction methods to mitigate risks and maintain site integrity.
Half way through, we had to change direction but unfazed, Amiri embraced the new vision, re-scoped and re-quoted and delivered to schedule. The level of flexibility in a supplier is worth its weight in gold.
