Project Overview
A four-storey, state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the region’s growing demand for advanced technical education.
The 2,600m² building provides cutting-edge teaching and practical spaces for students specialising in Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, Information and Communication Technology, and Construction and the Built Environment. The new institute features specialist “Learning Factories” that replicate real-world working environments, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in their chosen disciplines.
Sustainability was central to the design and construction, with the building achieving Net Carbon Zero standards. Key environmental features include photovoltaic panels for renewable energy generation, air source heat pumps to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and a water recycling system designed to minimise consumption and waste.
The Institute forms part of a national network of Institutes of Technology, established to help tackle regional skills shortages and strengthen the connection between education and industry across the South East.

Key Challenges & Solutions
Delivering a Build on a Live College Campus: Construction took place within a fully operational college environment, requiring careful coordination to ensure safety and minimise disruption to students and staff.
A comprehensive logistics and communication plan was implemented, including segregated access routes, strict delivery scheduling, and regular liaison meetings with college representatives to manage daily operations seamlessly.
Just wanted to drop a note to say a massive and heartfelt thanks for your hard work and commitment to helping get part of the building ready to use for our open event. I know people have worked late into the evenings to make this happen. It means a lot to me and the teams. Prospective parents and their children were blown away by the building, I think Dean even had a sign-up for a course which is about to start!
