Project Overview
Amiri was appointed by Sherborne School to deliver a £9 million extension and refurbishment to the existing school sports centre.
The build included a five-court sports hall, three classrooms, climbing facilities, studios, physio and sports performance rooms, a new gymnasium, squash courts, as well as associated offices, storage and changing areas.
In addition, the project encompassed the refurbishment of the existing sports centre, changing rooms, and swimming pool, enhancing the overall student and staff experience. The extension was designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps to provide low-carbon energy for the operation of the new facilities.
The project was delivered in phases, allowing parts of the facility to remain operational throughout construction.
I am pleased to advise that your site scored our highest rating to date with 91.5%, moving you into the ‘Excellent’ Category by meeting criteria including exceeding expectations, and good practices observed throughout with no significant concerns identified. This is the first rating that I have issued this year.

Project Outcomes
The completed sports centre provides modern, flexible and high-performance facilities for Sherborne School students, supporting a broad range of sporting, educational and recreational activities.
The sustainability features reduce operational energy costs and environmental impact, while the phased handover ensured minimal disruption to school operations. The project was delivered on time and to budget, reflecting Amiri’s commitment to quality, innovation and safety in educational environments.
