Project Overview
Amiri was appointed to deliver the refurbishment and extension of the existing Grade I listed dining room and kitchen facilities at Lord Wandsworth College.
The works spanned both ground and first-floor levels and included associated services, new fire escapes, external works, and the in-fill covering of the existing roof-level lightwells.
This project marked the third successful collaboration between Amiri and Lord Wandsworth College. Located within a busy live campus, the works required meticulous coordination to ensure the safety and comfort of students and staff while maintaining the college’s daily operations. In addition to the main building works, Amiri also completed a new relief road and coach park, complete with lighting and drainage swales, to enhance site accessibility and traffic management.

Key Challenges & Solutions
Working Within a Live Campus Environment: Ensuring the safety and comfort of students and staff was paramount during the 57-week build.
Weekly coordination meetings with the college ensured that delivery schedules, high-traffic periods and construction activities were planned around the academic timetable.
Preserving a Grade I Listed Building: Working on a listed structure required specialist care to protect existing architectural features while integrating new systems and extensions.
Amiri worked closely with conservation specialists and heritage consultants to ensure all interventions were sensitive and compliant with heritage requirements.
Complex Site Logistics and Access: Located at the heart of the college, the project required careful management of deliveries and limited access routes.
A detailed logistics plan and the construction of a new relief road and coach park improved access and reduced congestion during the build.

I was personally pleased to see the values which Amiri trades on were in evidence throughout the construction period. I always felt your team treated this as much more than ‘just another job to be delivered within time and budget’. Throughout the year-long construction, I was conscious of a very positive team spirit and a keen desire to deliver exactly what was required to the very highest standards of quality.
